SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary meeting of the above was held last night. Present: Messrs Hornblow (chairman), A. J. Kellow, Claris, McMurray, E. Martin, Perreau, and the head teachej’, Mr Furrie.- Apologies were received from Messrs Rev. J. H. Bredin and W. Signal. The Chairman stated that several members of Committee had inspected the school and grounds, and made themselves familiar with certain works in contemplation. The headmaster presented a comprehensive report, dealt with elsewhere.
It was resolved to purchase a drum of Keroi disinfectant. Resolved to forward a letter to the Board, asking that immediate attention be given to the roof of the school, the painting of the quadrangle, and to replace a defective tank.
It was decided to confer with the Borough Council re public swimming baths. Mr Perreau was authorised to canvass old boys for subscriptions towards the erection of an honours board at the school to contain the names of all old boys who had given their services to King and country in the present war.
Messrs Rev. Bredin and Claris were appointed visitors for the month. ')
The head teacher was authorised to purchase certain material for school requirements.
Accounts amounting’ to £l6 6s 5d were passed for payment. The convening of a special meeting for the purpose of adopting a programme of work for the coming year was left in the hands of the Chairman.
