PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Executive Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs J. Chrystall '(chairman), Barber, MeMurray Raine, Preston and Kellow. In reference to the position of secretary, it was mentioned that Mr J. L. Harvey would, if approached, probably accept same as an honorary position. Mr Harvey was comnupiieated with by telephone, and agreed to undertake the work, and was appointed to the position. It was decided to recommend the Shop Committee to devote a Saturday in June as a special day in aid of the Red Jersey appeal. On the motion of Messrs Raino and Kellow, it was decided that a Carnival he held on the King’s Birthday (June 3rd), and that a public meeting be called for Friday, May 10th, to arrange details. The question of the amalgamation of the Moutoa and Oroua Downs Societies with Foxton was discussed, and it was decided that the Committees from these places be asked to meet deputations re amalgamation with the Society, on dates to be aranged. A circular letter respecting alien enemies was read from the .Napier Patriotic Society, and it was moved by Messrs Kellow and McMurray, and carried, that this Executive Committee heartily endorses the action re enemy aliens taken by the Napier Patriotic Society, and trusts the petition presented to the Gov-ernor-General may be successful.
Accounts were passed for’payment, and the meeting rose.
