LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
SOME NEW APPOINTMENTS. LIST OP “PROBABLES." It is an open secret now that the Government is making appointments of several gentlemen to the Legislative Council. It is understood that the number is fourteen, and the foi J lowing names have (says the Dominion) been mentioned as those of probable appointees Mr C. H. Izard, of Wellington, some time member for Wellington North. Mr W, J. Geddis, editor of the New Zealand Ttimos. Mr George Jones, of Oamarn, newspaper proprietor, formerly a member of the Council. Mr G. M. Thompson, of Dunedin, lately member for Dunedin North. Sir-John Sinclair, of Dunedin, formerly a member of the Council. Mr W. H. Triggs, of Christchurch, editor of The Press. Mr G. J. Garland, of Auckland, a member of the Education Board in that district, and at present chairman. Mr H. F. Wigram, of Christchurch, a foi’mer member of the Council. Mr H. L. Michel, well-known as a merchant and as a public man on the West Coast. Mr J. Grimmond, also a West Coast resident, Mayor of Hokitika.
