GALLIPOLI, 1915.

IN MEMORIAM. Brave .son of mine! I gave thee To our King and country, lad! But 'where the dark JEgcan Sea Enfolds that land all battle-clad, There thou has made thy grave. Son of mine! The message runs “Fallen with face towards the foe, Undaunted by the deadly guns.” Ah, yes! I knew it would be so; ’Tis good it has been so. Son of mine! Thou are not dead! No, not dead! Thou canst not die. Still slumbers soothe thy warrior bed, And stars keep watch where thou dost lie, Until I come, my child. Son of mine! Those bright blue eyes Are closed —-’once lit with tender love. Ah! could I bid thee now arise! But, no —yet from the Heights ahove God give thee Rest in Peace. —G.Y.W., in Evening Post.
