CORONATION TOWN HALL
A discussion took place at last night’s Borough Council meeting on affairs in connection with the Town Hall. Cr Hurley said the public convenience at the hall w r as unsatisfactory and insanitary. The Mayor said that efforts were being made to locate the cesspit. He referred to other repairs which were being effected. Correspondence was received from the N.Z. Picture Supplies, late lessees of the hall, offering to pay £35 in settlement of repairs to plant, etc. The Mayor said the offer was-ab-surd. The Council had expended £2BO in installing electric light and signs, and the cost to repair same by the late lessees would amount to at least £BO. Besides which there were other minor repairs outside fair wear and tear to be effected. Cr MeColl moved, and Cr Henderson seconded, the following resolution -“That the N.Z. Picture Supplies be informed that the Council cannot entertain the proposal to accept £35 in full settlement of the Council’s claim for restitution of the Town Hall property, but the Council will accept the cash value, of lamps missing from the electric signs on outside of buildings, instead of the lamps, but otherwise the Council expects the Company to make full restitution, and that the Town Clerk obtain an estimate of the value of the lamps Carried. • '
