EMERY BROS.’ CIRCUS.

FOXTON TO-NIGHT! Re-appearance to-night iti Fox-i ton of Emery Bros.? Circus. Location : near Council Chambers, The above circus has just, lately arrived from Australia, after meeting there with huge success. It is not only a circus, but a vaudeville and buckjumping show. Owing to the fire's taking place at Raetihi, the circus was unable to advertise their appearance here as they would liked to have done. At any rate, every seat in.the tent was filled last night, and the patrons fully enjoyed the evening’s programme. The programme last night was well received by the audience, every item advertised being shown. The performance opened with the trick pony “Chief’ and clown Joe, followed by a number of performing dogs. The Golden Sisters , serio dancers; Tommy, the smallest buckjumping pony in the world created roars of laughter by his antics. Perhaps the best item was that of C. McDonald, Scotch comedian and comedy dancer. Chief, high and long jumping dog, Sandow, ti-ick and drunken pony, Bosker, the military performing dog, all good turns, followed. Miss McCutting, serio and whirlwind dancer, was well received. The educated horse, Starlight, gave evidence of very careful train-; ing, being almost human in parts of his performance. Ho can smoke a pipe, drink a glass of beer, and play a good game of cards. The second part of the programme consisted of items by: Chief, performing horse, and clown Bobo, C. McDonald, novelty lightning dancer, Nip, the only bareback jockey dog in the world, Golden Sisters in their neat songs and dances, Tommy end Chieftain, performing ponies, and concluded with a buckjumping exhibition by Kiliarncy, the Australian outlaw. To-night there will be a complete change of programme, and Messrs ‘Williams and Smith, two local men, will attempt to ride “Slippery'.Fish,” the buekjumping outlaw, and earn 30s if they can stay on the animal’s back for 30 seconds. Popular prices will be charged. The circus will show at Shannon to-morrow night, and at Levin on Thursday,
