NINETY-THREE AND NOT OUT.

To-day Air E. P. Osborne celebrates his 93rd birthday, and in honour of the event an unconventional call was made upon him this morning by the Alayor (Air John Chrystall) and Atossrs F. Robinson (Foxton’s oldest resident), A. S. Easton, another old settler, AT? J. W. Stevenson (W.M. of the local Ala sonic Lodge), and Hornblow. The old gentleman, who resides with his daughter, Airs' W. E. Bullard, in the Avenue, was taken by surprise, but upon realising the object of the visit was ovei’corac with' delight. He referred to little incidents in connection with his callers, and asked Air Robinson whether he still possessed a particular piece of furniture‘made by Air Osborne many years ago. He was delighted to know that it was still in Air Robinson’s possession, and proudly said no other man could have done the work so well. The Mayor proposed the toast of Air Osborne, and after ' 1 chatting with the old gentleman for a few minutes, departed. / Air Osborne still retains his mental faculties, and is able to get' about the house without assistance. Among those present-was a granddaughter (Airs Young, of Palmerston N.), and a great-grandchild — four generations. The old gentleman was keenly delighted with the compliments paid him.
