A SUNDAY SCHOOL.

PUPILS INTERRUPTED AND

DISPERSED.

It is well-known to the police and to the public that several gambling schools flourish in Foxton. Sunday is the day set apart for the assembling of the school, and the localities are various, and well away from the public view. A somewhat- favoxirite rendezvous is on the river bank across the railway line, on private property. The owner of. the property, who happens to be a wellknown lady resident, had occasion to visit the property on Sunday last, in company with another lady, and walked right into the midst of a school in full going order. Cards were being played, and mere lads induced to put in their half-crowns. Much of the conversation was heard, .and the methods witnessed. The school was quickly broken up by the unexpected intrusion, and the pupils took to their heels, but not before they had been reprimanded for their wrongdoing, and an intimation that the matter would be placed in the hands of the police.
