NEW ZEALAND’S WAR EXPENDITURE.

OVER THIRTY-TWO MILLIONS UP TO LAST YEAR. Wellington, March 5. A statement of the war expenses of the New Zealand Government to December 31st last was made available by the Defence Minister today. The total expenditure is £32,513,711. Pay and allowances, £12,825,848; per capita payment to the War Office for maintenance of New Zealand troops in the Field, £7,800,000; transport of troqps and freight, etc., including charter of steamers, £4,304,752; equipment, £2,554,103; rations, £1,253/075; expenses of camps, £570,718; medical, including cost of field hospitals and medical services, £498,121; hospital ship Maheno, £271,704; hospital ship Marama, £258,859; distribution of war news and casualty lists, £260,000; total expenditure in connection with the military occupation of Samoa, £344,159.
