FORGERY CHARGE.
SOLDIER’S PAY BOOK
ALTERED,
At the Wellington Supreme Court on Saturday, Herbert Stanley Aitkenhead, charged with forging a soldier’s pay-book, with the intent that it be acted on as genuine, who had' pleaded guilty in the lower court, said that he had done that to prove that he had registered as a reservist. He was now due in camp;\ His Honour said that, as it was a first offence, he would admit the prisoner to probation for a period of sixteen months. He would, however, have to report himself to the military authorities within three days, and pay the expenses of the prosecution, £5, He would have to report as the probationary officer required while in New Zealand. Mr Macassey said that a military warrant was now out for the prisoner’s arrest as a deserter, so that he could be taken in charge as he left the court.
