BOWLING.

A very pleasant afternoon : was spent on the local green yesterday, when live rinks from Eeilding paid an official visit. The weather conditions left nothing to be desired, and the green played well. The visitors arrived early, and a start was made shortly after two o’clock. Twentyfive heads were played, and at the conclusion of the games Eeilding had three wins to Foxton’s two, the aggregate score being: Eeilding 142, Eoxton 111. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Reay.

At the conclusion of the play, Mr W. Nye, president of the Foxton Club, thanked the visitors for their attendance, and said the Foxton players appreciated the Feilding Club’s action in sending so many players to Eoxton. He said that the visit would be, returned within the next few weeks, when Eoxton hoped to be represented by at least four rinks. He called for three cheers for the visitors, which -were heartily given. Mr G. Bartholomew, president of the Eeilding Club, thanked the Eoxton Club for the very hearty welcome that had been accorded them, and said that they had thoroughly enjoyed the outing. He assured the players that they would receive a very hearty welcome when they visited Eeilding, which he hoped would be at an early date. Three cheers were given for the Eoxton Club, and also cheers for Mrs Reay for providing such a fine afternoon tea, and for the ladies who assisted in serving same.
