BOROUGH FINANCES.
■The Borough Treasurer reported at last night’s Council meeting *as under: — The sum of £270 Os 3d was received during the month of December, and placed to the credit of the district fund account. The balances of the various funds at the Bank of N?w Zealand as at the 31st December, 1917, were as follows: District fund acount, debit, £BO6 6s lid account, debit, £2 12s 7d; and the ledger balances at the same date as follows; —Hospital and Charitable Aid £3B 15s 3d, library £2l 5s Id, reserves £l2 14 Id, sanitation £222 6s Bd, Town Hall £3B 6s 6d, Whirokino bridge loan interest £36 13s 7d, Whirokino bridge No. 2 £3O 10s (Id, roads and streets loan £3B 18s 6d, roads and streets loan No. 2 £l9 14s sd, Shannon bridge loan £2O 2s Bd, council chamber loan £7 10s 7d, Beach road loan £39, all in credit, a total of £525 17s lOd. • The accounts at debit were: —lmprest cash £lO, general £240 17s 3d, gas works £687 Is Od, cemetery £2 12s 7d, gac works loan £325 6s 6d, town hall loan £69, total £1,334 17s 4d.
