FOXTON STATE SCHOOL.
PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY. The prize-giving ceremony at the local State school took place on Tuesday afternoon. Owing to a breakdown on the road, Mr Pirani avus delayed in bis arrival, and the ceremony did not take place until 3.30 p.m. Parents and children, lioAvever, Avere. entertained in the meanwhile, the former by inspecting the gardens, and the latter in scrambles for sweets. The Chairman of the School Committee briefly introduced Mr Pirani, avlio received a characteristic welcome upon rising to speak. Mr Pirani congratulated the school on the good work dime during the year, and hoped that even belter progress Avould be made, during the coming year. Addressing the children, he gave (hem some good advice in respect to their studies and conduct, and Avished (hem all a pleasant holiday.
