SECONDARY EDUCATION.
SUCCESS OF LOCAL STUDENTS. We are always pleased to hoar and to place on record the success in secondary education of any expupils of the local State school. The local pupils who hav#ipassed on to the well-equipped secondary institution at Palmerston have more than held their own with the scholars from other primary schools throughout the district during the past year. Among the local expupils who distinguished themselves at the annual prize-giving at the High School breaking-up ceremony were: Sarah Henderson in Form IV. (second year student), who secured the aggregate prize in her form—a fine performance; Joyce Claris (second year), came third in the aggregate in Form lIIA., and was equal with Ethel Edlin for first place for book-keeping and shorthand in Form HIB. Ethel Edlin (first year) was first (equal with Joyce Claris) for book-keeping and shorthand in Form, HIB. (and, by the way, we owe Ethel an apology for misreporting her success in a previous issue). Ella Patterson (first year) came third in the aggregate in Form IHB., and annexed the cooking prize. Arthur Baker (second year) won the first prize for book-keeping and shorthand in Form IVB. We heartily congratulate the local students on their past year’s work, and hope that they will continue to “hold up their end of the stick” next year. ;
