e motions Passed at INVERCARGILL. Invercargill, Dec. 4. The large theatre at Invercargill was unable (o hold (he crowd ns-., sembled- (o hear (ho Rev. Howard Elliott, national lecturer for Iho Protestant .Political Association, The lecturer received a magnificent hearing, being cheered to the echo. The hollowing motions were carried without a dissentient voice:—“That this meeting, having heard thei statement of the Rev. Howard El-. liott respecting his action in the recent assault case, expresses confidence in him as its lecturer, and pledges itself to further the interests of the Protestant Political Association.’' “That this mooting of Protestants of Invercargill expres- ises its satisfaction that the attempt to secure legislative exemption from military service of the priests ami Marist Brothers was defeated jjy the Legislative Council. We extend our appreciation of its action in resolutely refusing to sanction supli an unjustifiable exemption, and cal{ upon the Government to impartially administer that Act, which was designed and passed to secure equality of service and sacrifice from all sections of the community. This meeting emphatically declares that any attempt to do by regulation what legislation has' denied wilt bo strongly Resented." **
