A CHARGE OF SEDITION.
DUTCHMAN GETS SIX MONTHS’, In the Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, John Piet eh je, a Dutchman, was accused of uttering a sedition a-; follows: —“The Kaiser will win this war! Good luck to the Kaiser!” Harry Harding, an electrician, who stays at the Metropolitan Hotel, stated that on the evening of November 22nd, he was in the private bar of the hotel discussing the war, when Pieterje intruded, and said: “The Kaiser will win this war!” Alfred King, a baker, said he, too, was in the hotel, and he heard a “foreign voice” say: “Good Iqck to the Kaiser!” Constable C. Murphy, %yho was palled in to arrest Pieterje, stated that accused showed signs of having bad some liquor, Pieterje said that he did not use (lie words; that sonicone else .did, He was sentenced to six month’s imprisonment.
