To-morrow afternoon two rinks will leave Foxton on “pot hunting” expeditions, the atti’actions being the Dixon and the Manson and Barr Cups. The Dixon Cup is held by Nash’s rink, Palmerston North, and the challenging team is: D. Whibley, Nye, Hawke, F. D. Whibley (s). The Manson and Barr Cup is held at Feilding, and the Foxton team for this match is: Large, Hooker, Woods, Rimmer (s). At Feilding on Saturday the holders of the Manson and Barr Cup, Mills, Pirani, Worsfold, J. Bartholomew (s), for the ninth time in two years, successfully defended their right to hold the trophy, defeating a challenging rink from TerraceEnd, Oakley, Stubbs, Rankin, Cuninghame (s), by 30 points to 12. On the local green yesterday afternoon, in the ladder competition, Large 21 beat E. Walker 15, At a meeting of the Manawalu Centre held at Palmerston North yesterday, the Foxton Club’s delegates, Messrs Dr. Mandl and Freeman, asked that the next annual Centre tournament, to take place on January Ist and 2nd, be held on the Foxton green. It was pointed out, however, that it had already hepn decided to hold the tournament at Palmerston North, bat it was decided to hold a day’s bowling on the Foxton green, at which most of the clubs in the Centre will be represented, and December 19th was suggested as the date for same. Play will commence at 9 o’clock in the morning, and continue all day. The details are yet 4o be arranged.
