MAROONED ON A ROCK.

Thames, Yesterday. Yesterday, while fishing from the rocks near Thames, the tide rose, surrounding a rock on which were seated Percy Baker and Alfred Houghton. The latter swam ashore, but Baker, essaying to follow, struck his head while diving, and was rendered unconscious, and was drowned. He was a member of a well-known and highly esteemed family of Thames. One brother is a Director of the School of Mines, and another is at the front. Deceased leaves a widow.
