CORRESPONDENCE.

(To the Editor). Sir. —On Thursday evening I was accosted by three little children, one after the other, with a request to purchase tickets for a concert. Now, sir, I do not mind purchasing tickets for deserving objects, and I hope I will not be misunderstood on that ground. But I do think it is time to stop children from this sort of thing —except in the case of some juvenile affair in which the children themselves are directly interested. A number of children to my certain knowledge have undertaken ticketselling without the consent of their parents, and unpleasantness has been caused. I believe the practice followed is for those interested to go to the school and ask for volunteers for this work from among the children. Child-like, there is a willing response, and a competitive spirit engendered. In any case, sir, I tliiqk it is the duty of the schoolmaster to first ask the children to obtain and bring the written consent of parents to undertake such work before sending them out. Sir, I am strongly against using children for this work. I am sure just as good results would be obtained if a committee of adults were set up to carry out this work. I know my protest is endorsed by a number of parents, hence the letter against the practice. Thanking you in anticipation, —I am, etc., PARENT.
