SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the above was held last evening. Present: Messrs Horublow (chairman), Rev. J. H. Bredin, Hussy, Parker, Read, McMurray, and Woods. An apology was received from Mr Pcrreau. The secretary reported that he had communicated with the Boai’d re subsidy on £2O forwarded some months ago, but had not received a reply. It was suggested that the money would be better earning interest than lying idle with the Board. It was also pointed out that the hot water installation at the head teacher’s residence had been paid for by the Committee and the Department, and the Board had not allowed the Committee anything on the range it had taken from the residence. The Chairman said it was this sort of treatment which killed’ any incentive on the part of the Committee to raise funds for school inprovement. The secretary was instructed to again communicate with the Board on the subject. The Board wrote, stating that Miss Price had been granted further leave of absence on account of sickness until the end of the year.
It was resolved to write the Board re disposal of iron tank at the school,
It was resolved to inform the caretaker that the Committee could not see its way to pay him during the whole period of the Christmas holidays, but that he would be paid for two weeks of same. It was resolved to ask the Board to purchase two filters for the school. Messrs Perreau and Read were appointed visitors for the month.
