ALLEGED ARSON AND THEFT.

Gisborne, Nov. 1. As a further sequel to the recent gasworks tire, John Sheriff Dods, clerk at the gasworks, was arrested to-day and brought before the Magistrate, charged w’ith arson and thefts of various suras belonging to the company. Detective M’Leod, in applying for a remand, said Dods had confessed to misappropriation, altogether of a very large sum of money. A remand till Friday week was granted. Bail w r as allow’ed, self in £SOO and two sureties of £SOO each, Frank Parnell, on remand on a charge of arson- at the gasworks, will appear at the Court to-morrow, when a further remand will be asked for.
