MOUTOA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent). General regret was felt in Mou-. toa when the sad intelligence was received that Efim. Alex. MacDonald was killed in action on August 12th. Rflm. MacDonald was a brother of Mrs G. R. Hall, Mrs R. Johnson, Mrs G. Davey, and Mr Hughie MacDonald, of Moutoa. Prior to his departure for the front with the 19th Reinforcements, Rflm. MacDonald resided at Whitaunui and was in charge of one of the company’s strippers. He was a general favourite, and his quiet and unassuming manner endeared him to all. Deceased took a keen interest in football, and was a member of the Shannon team. General sympathy is extended to his sorrowing bro-. thers and sisters. Mr T. Davey, of Moutoa, has sustained another loss in the death of his brother, Lance-Corpl. Daniel Davey, of Papakaio, Oamaru. Lance-Corpl. Davey was a one-time resident of Moutoa, and judging by his early promotion in the field, another young life of promise has been cut off. This is the second brother killed within the last two months, and much sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Davey. Mrs G. R. Hall is at present oh S. short visit to Moutoa.
