HEMP PRICES.

(To the Editor). : Sir. —When the Government fixed the prices of hemp, did they fix a minimum price as well as a maximum? Were not the merchants asked to make up the costs, their commission, etc., in order to arrive at the price payable to the millers?, If so, are the merchants at liberty to cut down the price to be paid to millers? It is reported that merchants arc already offering about £6 per ton less than the price agreed upon. Is this so? As this question will effect this district very materially, both in regard to millers and employees, I will be pleased if you will kindly give the information asked for. —I am, etc., INTERESTED. ~
