In the House of. Representatives on Thursday, the Shops -and Offices Amendment Bill and the Hutt Road Amendment Bill were put through the Committee stage. The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Bill (Mr A. Walker) was committed after midnight. It related to the responsibility of persons employing gardeners. By 27 to 12 the House decided to reportprogress on the Bill. The Hon. Mr Speaker (Sir P. W. Lang) intimated that the Legislative. Council had insisted upon the proposed amendments to the Sale ! of Liquor Restriction Bill, Reference was made to the fact that Sir Joseph Ward, Sir John Findlay, and Mr C. A. Wilkinson had been appointed to meet the managers appointed by the Legislative Council regarding the Bill. At 12.35 a.m. the House adjourned. In the Legislative Council the War Purposes Loan Bill (No. 2) was received from the House of Representatives. The Bill, which provides for the raising of an extra loan of-’ £4,000,000 (making £28,000,000 in all) for war purposes, was put through all stages, and passed withoukdiscussion.
