AN APPEAL.
ON BEHALF OF THE OLD FOLKS. At the last meeting of the District Hospital Board, Mr Hornblow made an appeal for a piano for the Old People’s Home at Awapuni. The Board sanctioned the appeal for funds for this purpose, and Mr J. A. Nash, Mayor of Palmerston N., undertook to receive contributions for same. The old people—and there are several from this locality —dearly love a little music. There is a gramophone at the Home, and it is delightful to sec the. uk! people, gather round the instrument ami listen to the record-. But something >R!,!r is required io assist ihose who go there now nod again to entertain the old folks, and that something is a piano. Among the inmates tire included several who can play the piano. Now, our object in writing this note is to make an appeal to the local public for donations on behalf of an instrument for the old people. We will be pleased to receive contributions and acknowledge same. We feel sure that the Foxton public will not allow us to make this appeal in vain. The Board will subsidise donations received.
