SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
LITTLE BOY INJURED.
A sad accident was sustained by Claude Hurst, aged 84 years, son of Mr and Mrs A. W. Hurst, of Kongotea, and late of Foxton, on Satur-day-evening, about 5 o’clock. The eldest son was leading a horse in Rongotca Square, when it took fright at a passing motor bike, and Claude Hurst, who was standing near, was asked to move out of the way. The hoy, in obeying his brother, had the misfortune to fall, and the horse jumped on him, one of its hoofs crushing his head. The little sufferer was conveyed to his home, and medical aid obtained. Dr. Putnam arrived promptly, and after examination took the ladTo the Palmerston Hospital, and performed an operation on his head, the skull having been severely fractured. The patient came through-the operation as well as could he expected under the circumstances, and is now reported to be lying in a semi-con-scious condition.
