LADIES’ PATRIOTIC GUILD.
AN APPEAL FOR FUNDS
The Foxton Ladies’ Patriotic Guild has accomplished a great deal of work for our sick and wounded soldiers, the poor of Belgium, and other deserving patriotic objects. The goods and comforts sent forward by the Guild have totalled in value hundreds of pounds. Letters have been received by the Guild from the authorities and soldiers appreciative of the Guild’s self-sacrificing efforts. The public in the past has assisted the Guild by providing money to purchase the necessary material which is fashioned and worked into garments, socks, etc., by our local women, who arc prepared to cheerfully give up a portion of their time to this work. Unless the Guild is assisted financially by the public its good work is curtailed. The Guild is in need of funds, and we make an earnest appeal on their behalf for assistance. Donations will be thankfully received by the president (Mrs F. Robinson, Lady's Mile), or secretary (Mrs Moore). We hope this appeal on the Guild's behalf will be liberally responded to. The Guild forwarded the following goods during August and September as follows; — To the Red Cross:—s flannel undershirts, 11 pairs pyjamas, 3 pairs flannel underpants, 19 pairs' h.k. socks, 17 treasure bags, 3 face cloths, 1 waistcoat, 5 head bandages, 140 swabs, old linen, 0 day shirts. Countess of Liverpool;—34 muslin shirts, 11 flannel shirts, 8 day shirts, 14 pairs h.k. seeks, 4 pairs machine-knitted socks, 8 balaclavas, 8 pairs mittens, 4 dozen housewives.
