The gas manager reported as follows; —'.“The amount of gas manufactured for the month of August shows a slight decrease as against July, but an increase with the corresponding month of last year. The contractor has completed the testing of the gas holder, which proved to be sound, and has lifted same ready for the repairs to the concrete well. I would recommend that the whole of tho concrete work be plastered to save any further trouble and expense. I am still pumping to keep the well full for the contractor, who wired a week last Thursday that he would be down any day, To date I have pumped 370,080 gallons of water, which equals tilling the well five times. Although the pump has been going 257 hours, it has cost us no extra expense for power, as I worked it oil: the exhauster engine, Unfortunately the engine raced once during that time, owing to the belt coming off the pump pulley, consequently causing some inconvenience to the consumers. 1 have started to paint the holder, and hope to get two coals on the sides before it is re-placed in position. The carbonising plant is working satisfactorily.
