TREE-FELLING IN THE ROUND BUSH.

A PROTEST. Mr A. S. Walsh waited upon us yesterday, and stated that the Harbour Board had sold only the white pine trees in the Round Bush for milling purposes, yet lie alleged that rimu (trees are also being cut out of the bush. Mr Walsh questions whether the Marine Department would sanction even ’the white pine trees being felled, but he considered it an act of vandalism to allow the other trees to be destroyed. Mr Walsh considers that a public protest should be made against the destruction of the growing trees in this beautiful bush. As far as we are able to ascertain only white pine trees was authorised to be cut.
