Xot much is said in the lobbies of Parliament about the proposal to bring under the compulsory sections of tiie Military Service Act youlhs of nineteen years of age but under lwcnt.v( the age at which compulsory service commences). Enquiries made by a Post reporter, however, go to show that many members of (he House of Representatives are not in sympathy with the idea. The suggestion has boon made that (he change of age could he made under (he War Regulations Act. It: happens, however, that the age is fixed by the Act, and an amendment of the Act will be required lie fore it is altered. Lobby opinion at the present moment appears to be distinctly agaiusi calling up the uineleen-yea.r----olds; also, the general opinion is expressed that the proposal is made on account of the desire of the Government to relieve itself of the obligation which, necessarily additional, would be imposed on it if the Second Division was called up.
