STARS AND STRIPES IN FRANCE.
The United Slates, as distinguished from individual American citizens, commenced on -May 25th active participation in the Avar on the French front. It Avas a small but good beginning, and consisted of a fleet of (ive-ton Avaggons of the American motor •-transport service, driven by khaki-elad youths, most: of them undergraduates of Cornel! University. They left (heir base (‘amp under Captain Tinkham, avliu won the French War Cross for his work in full operation on the front. Ollier sections are in training in France, in Avhieh Harvard, Yale, Chicago, and other universities Avilt be specially represented preparatory to the arrival of regular army units.
