“SHOW YOU WHAT TANKS CAN DO.”
FRENCH AIRMAN’S AMAZING PRANK. The London Daily Telegraph’s correspondent says:—Second Lieutenant Navafre is a magnificent flying man. He has accounted for some lavo dozen enemy machines, and is ’perhaps the most daring fighter knoAvn. But Avhen off duty and “ on the spree” he is alarming. His Avihl performances while on leave in Paris have always been a by-word, but Avere hushed up for the sake of his other feats at the front. But he has reached the limit, and now is ‘‘‘wanted for attempted manslaughter. Having dined gaily near Halles, he took three pals Avith him in his motor car. “’Show you Avhat the Tanks can do at the front,” said Navarre, and started doing. He charged on and off the kerbstone at forty miles an hour, charged a group of five policemen standing in the road, knocking three down and hurting them badly; charged another party of; policemen, also Avilli casualties. Finally he charged an unattending motor car, smashed it up, and made off. He is Avanted hoav. He is believed to have returned to the front to bring doAvn one or lavo more Bodies and thus propitiate the authorities. Navarre has been forgiven many minor escapades before, and has about 300 days’ cells to do already after the Avar, but he Avent a little too far this time, and is not going to be let off with only a talking to. It is slated that Navarre, since being severely Avounded during one of his aerial exploits, has slioaa’U signs of mental disturbance.
