A COURT-MARTIAL.

Auckland, sth June. Thomas Atkinson Bentley, of Dargaville, who was drawn in the tilth military ballot, appeared before a court-martial to-day charged with failure to obey a lawful command in that he refused to be medically examined. Accused said that as Tie did not recognise the Alilitary Service Act he could not plead. He did not’consider himself subject to military law. He admitted his refusal to undergo the examination. He was a member of the Society of Friends, and had religious scruples, Accused was found guilty, sentence to be promulgated when confirmed by the officer commanding lire district.
