PATRIOTIC SHOP.
The 'men had a day out at tin* Patriotic Shop on Saturday last, and made a big effort ,on behalf of the Ladies’ Petrolic Guild. Messrs Chrystall, Raine, Ait ken, W. E. Barber. Crawley, Claris and Fellow were supervisors, and at the end of the day handed in £4B. Gifts are acknowledged from: Mesdames Shaw (Maroliri), Raine, A. Speirs senr., Hornblow, Healey, W. E. There may lie other donors whose names have been omilled on account of lhe.“new chums” being a lit lie overworked, and these arc ■asked to forgive. Tin* compel it ion for dressed and stuffed turkey donated by Hr- A. S. Easlon was won by Mrs Scadden, who passed the turkey back, and in the* second competition Air \\. E. Burlier was successful. The cake presented by Airs Shaw, Maroliri, was eagerly sought, and Dr. Mandl and Mr Hornblow each guessed the exact weight, !l lbs. The ladies’ quoit,- competition for hag presented by Mr 4. AT. Barr was won by Mr Healey, who scored 28. Guessing (he weight of the sheep present(*d by Mr W. E. Earlier was most successful, and Messrs T. Core, 4. Scadden, O. T. Woodroofe, C. Symons and A. Wallbutton guessed the eorreet weight, 55 lbs. 207 guesses were registered. The name of the donor of a bag of coal (Mr 11. A. Ingle) was not guessed, and the di.-posal of the coal realised (is. The competition for a restful table donated by Mr Wainwright was not completed. For an Angora rabbit presented by Master Frank Procter, a competition was arranged, and Mrs A. King was successful. Master.Procter also presented an Australian - parrot, which was sold for £l. Mrs AicMnrray was tin- ’winner of a pen-painted table centre donated by Miss Kathleen Barber. Hearty thanks are tendered to . the Eoxlon Borough Band for rendering selections during the evening, to Mr George Langley for lending his marquee, and to Air Wallace for creeling and removing same, to Messrs Harper Bros, for installing lighting system in the .marquee, and to Air (I.
