WEBB’S SENTENCE.

P. C. Webb, M.P., was sentenced at • Christchurch on Tuesday to three months' imprisonment for seditions utterance. He was ably defended bv Sir John Findlay.

Up to the time that Parliament sits Webb will receive his honorarium at the rate of £31)0 a year. After Parliament opens the question of granting him leave of absence will arise. "Leave of absence" is usually granted for urgent private or public reasons, and without such leave the member is subjected to a deduction from his honorarium of £1 a day.
