TOWN CLERK’S REPORT.
The Town Cleric reported at last night's Council 'meeting as follows;
“The road staff lias been engaged mi tin; f‘olli» works tinrinu 1 the past monlh, viz., repairin';;' fence. Vieloriii Park, cleaning drains, repairing' Johnston Street, Knssell Si reel, Sandon Hoad, and general aiainietianee work. It is proposed io proceed will) the cleanin';’ out of Ihe various drains in the borough during Ihe jircsenl month, and as I his work is not as far advanced as it should lie, owin'; to Ihe disarrangement of (lie road shill', I think that it will he advisable to put an extra hand on to push the work forward. Mela I. —It is now time that arrangements were made for the procurin'; of a supply of metal for repairing' the streets of the borough, and in this connection I would suggest (hat the Works Committee, together with the road foreman, inspect the various streets and decide upon the amount of metal required. —-The report was adopted. It was decided, oij the motion of Cr Stevenson, seconded by Cr. McColl, that the Town Clerk be empowered to pay up to twelve shillings per day for the casual labour required.
