PLANTING AT THE BEACH.
At last night's Council meeting the following resolution was received from the Manawatu County Council:— “That the Council regrets to hear that the mun in charge of the planting at the Rangitikei heads and down the beach to Foxton has been removed. The plantation and work already done will therefore be lost. The Council considers that despite the difficulty contingent upon the war, there should be some person in charge of this afforestation work, and would urge upon the Minister for Lands to consider the decision and to keep a man so as to look after the work already done, and to continue the planting. We would also ask other local bodies and Chambers of Commerce to assist us in gelling this necessary work continued.” It was decided on (he motion of Cr Me Murray, seconded by Cr Bryant, that Ibis Council co-operate with the Manawatu County Council in protesting against the removal of the man in charge of the planting at the Rangitikei Heads and the Foxlon beach, and that the Minister of Lands be urged to reconsider his decision in this matter.
