FARLAND’S PICTURE ENTERPRISES.
Mr Farland, of Levin, who lias, j in conjunction with Mr McMillan, lately purchased the various theatres in Shannon, Tokomaru, Levin, and Manakau. informed us yesterday that it is the (inn's intention to improve the properties in these centres and make them attractive pleasure resorts for the public. A new building is to be erected in Shannon, which will include all the latest, improvements as to seating, lighting and ventilation. A continuous blaze will be thrown on the front of the building from several 2,000 candle-power electric lamps A seating plan for the convenience of patrons will be provided at the theatre box office. Special lire escapes will be provided, and the operating box will be fire-proof and provided with an automatic shutter which will (dose instantly (he slightest heat is generated. The theatre will also be provided with a. marble bar and ladies’ and gents’ cloak rooms adjoining (lie office. There will be a 12ft. entrance, enabling one man to handle all tickets. Mr Farland says the Levin hall will have the latest appointments, and (he dress circle will contain 100 seats upholstered in plush, and the stalls will be provided with ample seating accommodation, plain chairs to be used in this connection, which can be easily remov- ’ ed should the Hour be required for dancing. The lighting, ventilation and comfortable seating will be a feature of the Levin hall. Mr land says the Levin building will be 1 a credit to the town. The mechanism for projecting pictures will be the latest procurable, so that Levin will be catered for on modern lines.
