MUNICIPAL STAKES.

[BY Early Bird.]

There are twelve starters for the nine prizes in the Municipal Slakes to he decided to-morrow, I have been watching their track poiTonnunees, and a few tips may not bo nut of place. Taking them altogether, they are as likely a looking lot as one could wish to see in such an event. The first to come under notice is: Knight of the Cleaver (Bell Towel —Keep-it -dark), evcn-lempeml, and keeps his pace with the pack, hut refuses to budge on his own. Has a knack of shying at Hie Town Hall. Is familiar with the course, urn! should land one of the prizes. George the Growler (Sport — Lady Love), a steady farm animal, who has scored more wins over the same course (ban any of his companions. Is apt to lash out on the slightest provocation, objects to spur or whip, and has often unsealed Standing Orders. The other animals give him a wide berth when he gels going; a practical animal; should some in an easy winner.

Tam-o'-Shanter (Restaurant — Old Edinhoro), an aged grey, even tempered, still sound in wind and limb, and previously cantered in an easy winner. Does a sprint at 0.40 p.m., constant, with Pills and Linesman, who have him lit and going strong. Intends to negotiate the Fire Bell and Band Rotunda. Gallops well in any company, and Mould catch the judge's eye at least third on the list.

Paddy's Land, a likely looking colt, who has not yet faced (lie harrier, hut who is expected to ran well if given a hearing. Creamery Lad, who got left in tin* last Municipal Stakes, is a likely winner, and keeps a wary eye on the lop end of the Avenue. Jock, although an unwilling starter. is a useful and practical horse, and keeps a close eye on the gas works harrier. Alright when lie gels going, and should land one of tin 1 honours.

Captain Mack is a military colt, with good points and a keen desire to set the pace for the others. Should be well in the front at the linish.

Sam-U-L, aged, Iml full of ginger, snorts somewhat, and is'keen for a. gallop —a trier and willing to work.

Gentleman Charlie, a member of the old learn, very tractable, and willing, hm shies at motor taxes. " Is in good fettle, and will take some heal ing.

Alphabetical Jim, an ambitions animal, full of vigour, and going strong. Ills previous track performance should keep him well in front throughout.

Fruit and Vegetables, a genuinely good allround horse, but suffers from a disease called Rating on the Unimproved. Is familiar with the course, which lie travels almost daily, and is well-informed as to the ruts. He’ll be there.

Little Mai, under 14 hands (While Leghorn-System), a thorough little animal of splendid temperament. This is his first appearance nti the track, but ho should negotiate all difficulties and land among the lirst past the post.
