Greymonlh, April IS. Sir James Allen and the lion. \V. I). S. A!:n-1)onnId arrived hack late to-night a Tier meeting the miners al Rmianga and Rewanui. Sir Janies Allen, in reply to Mr Hiram Hunter’s statement, has sent the .followin'!; telegram: “Your liegram received. 1 can scarcely believe that the Federation of Labour is opposed to so lair and democratic a measure* as the Military Service Act, which [daces every man as tar as service with the Expeditionary Forces is concerned on exactly the same footing. The Government cannot suspend the operation of the Act, as Parliament alone can do that. The Act was passed with only seven dissentients, and 1 have every reason to believe that the general opinion of the country is accurately represented by .Parliament. (Signed) J. Allen." The .Ministers leave Greynumth on their return to Wellington on Saturday morning.
