PATRIOTIC SHOP.
“Moutoa, Day” at the Patriotic Shop on Saturday was a great success, operations being under the charge of Mesdames Arthur Green, Murdock and Shaw. All previous records, except for days devoted to special funds, were broken, the net proceeds being £23 14s 3d. The surprise (jackets were eagerly bought, and tickets for the competitions sold freely. The competition for a sack of potatoes, competitors to guess (he weight of a Shetland pony, was won by Messrs E. Robinson and Matt. Conolly, who shared the contents of the sack. The correct weight was 4(50 Mbs., and winners guessed 4(iOlbs.
The cushion competition was won by Mr D. Prentice, who was within two of! guessing the number of peas in a bottle —‘287. Tlie name of the doll was “Peggy,” and was guessed by Messrs Carney and Rees, and was won in the draw off by Mr Camay, who returned same to the Moutoa, ladies’ for competition at the fete to-morrow.

The public, and especially (he members of patriotic bodies, are reminded of the Patriotic Fete to lie held at Moutoa on Wednesday afternoon (to-morrow). A splendid outing is guaranteed, and it is hoped that large numbers of local people will attend.
