CLERGY AND THE WAR.
Opportunity is token by Ibe Act-ing-Premier to supply some valuiible and highly interesting details regarding our clergy and the war. The Church Militant is well represented in our camps. At Peatherston there are two Anglican clergymen who are corporals. At I'rentham, an Anglican theological student has attained to a star, a Presbyterian pastor wears three stripes, the Congregationalists score with a sergeant-pastor, a Methodist is in the ranks, as are also two Salvation Army officers and a Church of Christ pastor. These clergymen warriors are distributed over the 23rd and the 27th Reinforcements. Besides these, there are in the non-combatant services an Anglican, a Methodist, and a Presbyterian minister in camp at Awapuni, AVe further learn, with regard to the movement against the conscription of clergymen, certificates for exemption, to be endorsed by the Military Service Board, were issued under clause 9 of the Act as follows up to. the end of last month: — Roman Catholics 37 Anglicans IT Theological students G Methodist 1 Presbyterian 1
