HOME SERVICE MEN.
IJI4 Fi4X(J4i Dili P AKT’MEN T’B APPEAL. From time to lime the Defence Department has made appeals for men for home service in the training camps, and although there are large numbers of "medically unlit” men in the community, the response in general has been disappointing. At the present time there is a scarcity of men for certain branches of home service. .Men anxious to gel away to the front have had to be kept back for work that could be done by home service men. It is considered by some men that when (hey have volunteered for active service and have been rejected, that they have done their share towards winning the war. Everyman should feel that if he cannot take an active part in helping to win the war, he should be willing to do what he can in the camps. The discipline of Feathers ton Camp has always been a noticeable feature, and in order to maintain this it has been found essential to have an efficient body of men for military police duly. Owing to the depletion of (he ranks through men going away there are now ten vacancies for steady reliable men for Unit duty. There has also been a noticeable thinning out in the ranks of the Army Service Corps, and to till immediate vacancies a motor driver, motor mechanic, and four good horse drivers are required. In, addition to the above twenty experienced clerks are wanted to assist in carrying out administrative work at tlie camps. The department appeals for these men immediately, and a staff officer from the Eeatherstoii Camp will deal with applicants, who can rest assured that if found suitable they will be despatched to camp as soon as possible.
