UNE YEAR'S EMPRISON AIENX. Wellington, Yesterday. The result of the court-martial which, on Saturday lasl, tried the ease of Samuel Edward Fitzgerald, who was drawn in the lirst ballot and failed to comply, was announced this morning. The charge preferred against the accused was of having deserted His Alajesty’s service, in that he absented himself from the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces until apprehended by the civil authority, he at that time having signed on as a steward on the s.s, Alanuka for Sydney. .The Court found Fitzgerald guilty, and sentenced him to imprisonment with hard labour for one year. The sentence of the Court has been confirmed, and is now promulgated.
