Mr Ross drew attention to the bad state of Foxtou-Shannon road. . Air T. Bowe wrote complaining of the bad state of Bowe’s line. TRAAIWAY MANAGER’S REPORT. The following were the chief items of IraJlic for February: General merchandise 2001 tons, grass seed and grain 118 tons, wool 517 hales, butter and cheese 5-11 tons, sheep 77 trucks, timber 22.400 feel, metal 1,010 cubic yards, fares amounted to £3 11s 2d. ENGINEER’S REPORT. Awahou Riding. —I have arranged to metal the worst holes along the Foxtun-Shannon road by day labour, and the teams are now getting along with the work of repairing tins road. About a week ago I made an inspection of the road ■leading to Air Bowe's. The road in question is known as the ElkinsAhuuiti road, and for a distance of about 35 chains approaching Air Lowe’s residence the road runs along the top of a sand ridge, which is very much cut up and scoured out by I he heavy gales, with the result that the road is almost impassable for any kind of vehicular traffic. The road being on a sandy formation, is neither good summer or winter, and I would suggest that the Council raise a loan over the riding to complete the metalling of (his road, and 1 am sure that there are a number of ratepayers who will give Mr Bowe their support to obtain a metalled road. Mr Ross, who has metalled a good portion of Burr's road to the Poplar Mill, suggests that the Council supply the balance of metal required to complete the road, and he will pul the metal on the mad at his own expense. General.- —During the past month, we crushed 1,040 cubic \ards of metal which has been delivered at the various sidings throughout the County, hut owing to the bottom .-ide jil. ties of (he crusher being worn the output is rather coarser limn usual, and not so line as is required for mad maintenance purposes, but at present 1 am unable to obtain Ihe necessary plates or vet anv information about them.
