NEW ZEALAND’S RECORD.

Tlii' luvisli import ot‘ motor curs into the Dominion is shown hy the following liguro, which, it will he noted, have highly increased during' the war period, and particularly last year, 1916; —

.Number Declared • Year. imported. value. £ l!)l(i 0,174 803,031 1015 3,596 012,855 1014 3,129 749,894 1013 2,731 578,500 These returns do not include tyres and other extras, the inclusion of which would bring the declared value for 1910 to over £1,000,000. The countries of origin for the latter years have not yet been gazetted, but in 1913 the United States and Canada supplied us to the value of £312,835, against £340,104 from the United Kingdom, while at the (dose of the first war year, 1914, the proportion had turned against the Mother Country to the extent of £366,451, as compared with £348,164. It is, therefore, safe to assume that by 1916 the importation of British ears had practically ceased.
