FIRE IN AUCKLAND.
Auckland, Feb. 25
A lire occurred lids afternoon at Marl Brothers’ general emporium in Queen ,-dreel. The outbreak originated in the umbrella department, and spread rapidly in the iu(lannnahle sloek before the brigade’s arrival, after which it was promptly suppressed. Considerable damage was done by water and to stoeks in the basement. There was praetieally no damage to the building. The estimated loss is from £2,000 to £3.000, The insurance on the stoid; is £O,OOO in the United Insurance C ompa ny.
