Ai'lluir Marmaduke Shields, a Hawke's Bay sheep-farmer, was drowned yesterday, while hat limy in the Sponge hay. lie only arrived on Saturday to spend a few days with his family. He leaves a willow and four ehildren. Ashburton, Fell. 2ti. William Henry McKee, single, ffil years of aye, was found dead in a water race on the Aytord Forest, road early this morning. He had been riding a hieyide and had fallen off and was drowned. When diseovered his head was in the race and his feel on the culvert. Dunedin, Feh. 25. A hoy named Frnest Joyce was found at Saddler's Hill last night, unconscious, suffering from a fractured skull and elbow. He hail been thrown from a horse and drayyed alony the load. He is in a critical condition. While surf-bathing at Ocean Beaeh, near Forlmry, this morniny. a man named Andrew Hay, about 2-5 veai's of aye, yot into difficulties, and, althuiiyh a yood swimmer, was drowned before assistanee could reach him. Deceased was nnmar2'ied, and employed as an operator in the Teleyraph Department. Wellinyton, Feh. 20. Claude Harrison .Sutton fell off a tram car in Manners street last night. lie was stamliny on the step t>f a ear evidently with the intention of aliyhtiuy at the next ■corner. .Somehow lie slipped, and was drayyed alony for a distance, sutferiny terrible injuries to his leys. He was removed to the hospital. His condition is critical. A railway fireman mimed Georye Henry Sheary had his right thiylr broken at the Upper ilutt on Saturday through being crushed between an engine and the station plat form. A little buy aged six years, named Stanley Davis, was run over by a tram and so badly injured that his left arm and right ley were amputated at the hospital. His conditi■on is critical.
