ANZAC DAY AND RACING.

NO permits are to be granted by the Government to hold races on Anzac Day (25th April), although three racing clubs have fixtures for that date. The Hon. G. W. Russell states that a notice is to be issued in the Gazette stating that the same policy as regards the commemoration of Anzac Day shall be carried out this year as last. The circular sent out last year recommended the holding of special religious services during the day, and patriotic entertainments in the evening in aid of the funds for war work.
