CORRESPONDENCE.
[To the Editor.]
Sir. —Re Mr Ingram's acceptance of the challenge issued by Mr Aitcheson and the suggestion that the Patriotic Funds should benefit from any proceeds. I would respectfully suggest that the contest take place on the race course one Wednesday afternoon, and that an admission charge of one shilling be made to the public. The contest would draw a big crowd, and other items apart from the principal draw could be added as curtain-raisers to afford breathing time to the principal contestants. We haven’t had a sports gathering in Foxton for many years, and I feel certain the attraction would take on. It would not be fair to expect Mr Aitcheson to take on Mr Hunt at the same time, hut Hie latter could demonstrate how post holes should he dug, sheep shorn, cows milked, and lupin felling could take the place of scrubcutting. Perhaps some other sports could suggest a few side lines. — Yours, etc.,
INTERESTED,
